An investigation is underway following a fatal two-vehicle crash on Sydney’s northern beaches this afternoon.

Just after 5.10pm (Friday 23 September 2016), emergency services were called to Powder Works Road, Elanora Heights, following reports a motorcyclist and a car had collided.

The male rider died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Northern Beaches Local Area Command are at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and who has not yet spoken to police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police are appealing for public information following the discovery of a man’s body at a home in Bass Hill this morning.

About 11.20am (Friday 23 September 2016), officers from Bankstown Local Area Command were called to a home on Buist Street, following reports the body of a man was located.

While the man has not yet been formally identified, he is believed to be aged in his 60s.

A crime scene has been established, which will be forensically examined.

Local police are investigating the man’s death with the assistance of State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. The incident is being treated as suspicious.

No further information is available at this stage.

Police are investigating after a vehicle drove into a river in the state’s north today.

Just before 1.50pm (Friday 23 September 2016), emergency services were called to the Tweed Valley Way, Condong, 25km south west of Tweed Heads, following reports of a crash.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe a sedan had left the roadway, crashing into a river.

A female passenger suffered critical injuries and was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to The Tweed Hospital.

The driver, a woman aged in her 30s, was also taken to The Tweed Hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command attended the scene and an investigation into the crash is underway.

The road remains closed and traffic diversions are in place.
